The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (Chairman: Asuka Miyabashira, hereafter referred to as "JMA") is pleased to announce the "Senden Kaigi Award" for 2025, with the aim of fostering future medical human resources and educating the younger generation about the industry. The award will be presented to a student from a junior high school or high school.The prize is an advertising award sponsored by Senden Kaigi, Inc. that invites entries of ideas for advertising expression in the form of catchphrases, storyboards, and character sketches. The theme for this year's sponsorship is "a catchphrase that expresses that the pharmaceutical industry is an innovative industry. Through the familiar medium of advertising, we hope to provide junior high and high school students with an opportunity to experience the social role played by pharmaceuticals and the pharmaceutical industry, as well as the nature of work that deals with "life". Entries for the Senden Kaigi Award will be accepted from August 1.
In February 2025, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) formulated its " Industrial Vision 2035," which outlines a roadmap for the future of drug discovery innovation in Japan and around the world. We position the generation of junior and senior high school students who will be responsible for the next decade as "co-creation partners" who will create the future together with us, and we will continue to share our vision and promote dialogue with them.
The Pharmaceutical Cooperative Public Relations Committee has been holding science events for elementary and junior high school students and disseminating information for university students, in addition to the permanent exhibition of the "Drug Room-Xurium" at the Science Museum (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). This sponsorship will provide all young people, including junior high and high school students, with an opportunity to become involved in future medical care and research and development.
The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) plans to provide content on the PMAJ website that introduces the pharmaceutical industry's advanced efforts through cartoons so that young people can enjoy learning about everything from the research and development of pharmaceuticals to how they are delivered to society.
Mr. Miyabashira, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ), said, "The pharmaceutical industry is an industry supported by human knowledge and passion. I sincerely hope that the generation that will shape the future of society will experience the potential and social value of the pharmaceutical industry and become partners in co-creation toward an attractive future for the pharmaceutical industry.
The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) will continue to promote initiatives to realize a sustainable medical society, while placing the highest priority on the patient perspective and valuing dialogue with the future leaders of the industry.

About the Proposals
The development of new drugs is said to have a 1 in 30,000 chance of success, even after decades of work. Nevertheless, the pharmaceutical industry continues to take on challenges, co-creating with various partners while utilizing cutting-edge science, AI, and digital technologies in order to shape treatments that have yet to be seen and deliver new drugs to patients around the world.
We hope that junior and senior high school students will express the innovation, passion, and excitement of the pharmaceutical industry and the excitement of opening up the future with their unique perspectives and words.
Target Characteristics
The target audience is junior high and high school students nationwide. The objective is to convey the role and value of the pharmaceutical industry to a generation that is new to advertising expression.
Background and Issues Valued
The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association is an association of 69 R&D-oriented pharmaceutical companies. They develop not only over-the-counter drugs, but also drugs used in hospitals and for the treatment of intractable diseases, making Japan the sixth largest developer of new drugs in the world. However, development requires an enormous amount of time and budget, and the pharmaceutical industry is one that is continually challenged by difficulties. That is why it is important for the future sustainability of the industry that its innovativeness and social value be understood by younger generations.
