The 19th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pharmacognosy
General Session (Oral Presentation) "Appropriate Use of Medicines"
"Investigation on the Case Studies of Utilization of RMP (Risk Management Plan for Medicines) and Preparation of a Collection of Case Studies of Utilization

The 2024 revision of the medical service fee allowed the calculation of an additional fee for specific drug management guidance when explanations regarding safety are given to patients using materials prepared and distributed as additional risk minimization activities in the RMP (RMP materials), and RMPs and RMP materials are now widely recognized by dispensing pharmacy pharmacists. This has led to the widespread recognition of RMPs and RMP materials by dispensing pharmacy pharmacists. On the other hand, not a few pharmacists have stated that they "do not know how to utilize RMPs" or "have not had the opportunity to utilize RMPs" as reasons for not utilizing RMPs. Therefore, KT1 (Continuing Issues Team 1) of the Pharmacovigilance Subcommittee of the Drug Evaluation Committee of the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) collected information published in papers and at academic conferences, as well as through interviews with dispensing pharmacy pharmacists who voluntarily cooperated with us, to collect examples of the use of RMPs and RMP materials, and published the results in July 2025. The information was published in July 2025.
This time, we shared this collection of case studies at the Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society of Pharmacists, which is mainly attended by dispensing pharmacy pharmacists, and gave this oral presentation in the hope that this collection of case studies will be well known, that the number of RMP utilization cases will increase, and that further information will be collected in the future.
