"To Deliver Drug Information Needed by Patients - From a Pharmaceutical Company's Perspective

With the emergence of new modalities such as molecular-targeted drugs, regenerative medicine and gene therapy, the importance of providing drug safety information to patients is increasing. Although the basic premise of providing information to patients is through medical professionals, a survey1) by the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) revealed that approximately 80% of patients use search engines to gather information. Furthermore, more than half of them tend to browse from the top of search results, and recently, AI-based summaries have been displayed at the top of Google searches.
In light of this situation, there is an urgent need to establish a system that enables people to reach appropriate information. In this symposium, we discuss together approaches to ensure consistency and reliability of information from the patient's perspective while utilizing various digital channels.
