Initiatives
1. carbon neutral action plan group
Regarding the consideration of greenhouse gas emissions from corporate activities, each company is working on initiatives that directly (Scope 1) or indirectly (Scope 2) emit greenhouse gases on their own. On the other hand, there are many issues regarding how to communicate with and calculate the emissions of suppliers (Scope 3), which are of great interest to the participating companies. Last fiscal year, we began sharing information among members and inviting experts to gather the latest information, and as a pharmaceutical cooperative, we prepared a "Request for Decarbonization Initiatives" for our suppliers. This document will be a starting point to further promote decarbonization efforts throughout the supply chain in a cooperative manner. In addition, we will also consider the decarbonization of the healthcare sector from the perspective of the serious health impacts of climate change being addressed by international organizations and the Japanese government.
2) Voluntary Action Plan Group for Establishing a Recycling-Oriented Society
Continuing from last year, based on the results of the JCIA follow-up survey, we will promote activities of member companies by sharing information on examples of initiatives to achieve the numerical targets of the Japan Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Associations (JFPMA) regarding voluntary actions to create a recycling-oriented society and the targets of member companies. In particular, activities such as sharing of individual efforts will be undertaken with the aim of increasing the recycling rate of not only waste plastics but also thermal recovery (heat recovery) and conversion to material recycling.
3. planning group
Plan and execute tours of facilities of companies that are implementing environmental measures, not limited to pharmaceutical companies. In addition, lectures will be planned to share the latest environmental technologies, policies, and best practices that will be helpful for member companies' initiatives and for cooperation among member companies and different industries. Furthermore, the committee will support the JCIA's "Environmental Supply Chain Award" project, and by recognizing companies and business partners that have made outstanding efforts, the committee will motivate companies and encourage activities that will serve as a model for other companies.
