The survey was launched in 1996 and has been conducted annually since 2014, with this being the 17th survey.

According to the results of this year's survey, the level of trust in the pharmaceutical industry was 88%, indicating that the level of trust in the industry is as high as ever. In terms of the image of the pharmaceutical industry, positive responses such as "an industry that is highly necessary to society" and "an industry with strong technological capabilities" were among the top responses. In addition, 55% of the respondents were "aware" of the medical data system, and a high 70% said they "want" pharmaceutical companies to "utilize" this data. We believe that these results are an indication of the high expectations of consumers, including patients, toward the activities of the pharmaceutical industry in developing new drugs and creating safe drugs. (Chapter 2: Image and Expectations of the Pharmaceutical Industry and Perceptions of Its Activities)

In the social life of the pandemic of novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), With/After COVID-19, the pharmaceutical industry is expected to continue to fulfill its mission of the need for therapeutic drugs and vaccines and the stable supply of pharmaceutical products. The percentage of respondents who said that their "attitude toward health, medicine, and medical care" changed after the pandemic was 34%, of which 65% said that their "health awareness has increased. (Chapter 3: Relationship between Sei-katsu-sha Health and Pharmaceuticals/Medicine)

In order to meet the expectations of our stakeholders and continue to earn their trust even in a changing social environment, we will make the most of the results of this survey and continue to promote the activities of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ).
