Joint Statement" by 6 related organizations has taken shape.
In March 2018, the six related organizations* released a Joint Statement** declaring their commitment to tackling medical and health information without scientific basis. In response to this statement, the three organizations (JPMA, JPMA, and the Council) established the "Basic Knowledge of Drugs Awareness Council" and produced this material, believing that educational materials are needed to help the general public identify and select correct medical and health information. The three organizations, Nichiyaku, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan, and the Council, launched the "Basic Knowledge of Drugs Awareness Conference" to produce this material.
Six related organizations: Japan Medical Association, Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, Japan Pharmaceutical Journalists Association, Center for Medical Human Rights (COML), Council for the Proper Use of Drugs, Inc.
Outline of the material - "Mi-ki, ki-ki" is the key to discerning information
With the abundance of information on medicine and health, it is extremely dangerous to simply believe information. This material introduces what information should not be taken for granted and what you should be careful about. The material is designed to help the general public remember the three key points of discerning information: " see," " listen," and " ask.
PowerPoint materials and flyers with scripts for use in public lectures, etc.
The materials are presented in a PowerPoint format for viewing by the general public and for use in public lectures by pharmacists and those involved in consumer education. The PowerPoint presentation includes exercises in which audience members can participate, and the notes section of the PowerPoint presentation includes a summary of each slide and a model script for easy use.
We have also prepared a single A4-size flyer for course participants to take home. We hope that it will be widely used in the future.
