About the “18th Survey on Consumer Attitudes Toward Medicines and the Pharmaceutical Industry”

We are pleased to announce that the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (hereinafter referred to as “JPMA”) has published the report on the results of the “18th Survey on Public Awareness of Medicines and the Pharmaceutical Industry” (hereinafter referred to as “this survey”), conducted this fiscal year, on the JPMA website.

The 18th Survey on Public Awareness of Medicines and the Pharmaceutical Industry

The purpose of this survey is to assess the public’s understanding and perceptions of prescription drugs and the pharmaceutical industry, and to use the findings as a basis for the JPMA’s public relations activities. The survey began in 1996 and has been conducted annually since 2014; this marks the 18th edition.

According to the results of this survey, the level of trust in the pharmaceutical industry stands at 84%, and 89% of respondents agreed that it is an industry indispensable to people’s daily lives (a newly added category).Depending on the survey item, differences in opinions and interests were observed across various demographic groups, such as age, health status, and history of medical visits. The industry will take these differences into account in its communications, strive to meet the expectations of all stakeholders, and focus on public relations activities that prioritize engagement while addressing diverse needs and interests.
