Approaches to Eliminate Drug Losses Proposed by the MHLW's Study Council on Unapproved and Off-label Drugs of High Medical Need

Today, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) proposed a specific scheme to eliminate drug-loss products, which have been a pressing issue at the Central Social Insurance Medical Council and other organizations, at the "Study Council on Unapproved and Off-label Drugs of High Medical Need The scheme was presented by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) is committed to working together with the national government to more effectively eliminate drug loss.

Currently, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), we are conducting a survey on the changes in awareness and behavior of each company in response to the 2024 drug price reform, the results of which will be announced later this summer.

JPMA will do its utmost to eliminate drug loss in cooperation with the government so that the necessary drugs can be delivered to patients in a timely manner.
