Approaches to Eliminate Drug Losses" proposed by the MHLW's Study Council on Unapproved and Off-label Drugs of High Medical Need
July 05, 2024
Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association
Today, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) proposed a specific scheme to eliminate drug-loss products, which have been a pressing issue at the Central Social Insurance Medical Council and other organizations, at the "Study Council on Unapproved and Off-label Drugs of High Medical Need". The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) is committed to working together with the Japanese government to more effectively eliminate drug loss.
Currently, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), we are conducting a survey on the changes in awareness and behavior of each company following the 2024 reform of the drug price system, the results of which will be announced later this summer.
The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) will make every effort to eliminate drug loss in cooperation with the government so that necessary drugs can be delivered to patients with a sense of urgency.
