Today, at the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare’s “Advisory Committee on Unapproved Drugs and Off-Label Drugs with High Medical Need,” the Ministry presented a concrete plan to address “drug loss”—an issue that has long been identified as an urgent priority by the Central Social Insurance Medical Council and other bodies. The Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) will work together with the government to ensure that efforts to resolve the “drug loss” issue proceed more effectively.
Currently, in collaboration with the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) and the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), we are conducting a survey on changes in companies’ awareness and behavior following the Reiwa 6 drug pricing system reform, and we plan to publish the results this summer.
The JPMA will spare no effort in working with the government to eliminate drug loss so that patients can receive the medications they need in a timely manner.
