Living with Hope. Photography Exhibition: Living with Disease and Hope.

This is the second exhibition following the one held in Harajuku, Tokyo in December 2023. With the cooperation of four organizations, the exhibition will display portraits and messages of patients and their families, cancer survivors and supporters, medical professionals, and others who are facing the disease from various perspectives, and challenging themselves without losing hope. The exhibition will feature portraits and messages of these people.

On the first day of the exhibition, an opening reception will be held by Mr. Harvey Yamaguchi, a photographer who has contributed to the exhibition, and Mr. Hiroaki Ueno, President of the Pharmaceutical Association of Japan, at Tsutaya's Shared Lounge (Sky Area). In addition to the media, the event will be open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis so that the public can become more familiar with social issues in the pharmaceutical and medical fields. Tickets will be distributed to the first 20 people (tentative) in front of the Sky Area from 10:30 on the day of the event. Only one ticket per person will be distributed.

At the venue, a visitor-participation type display board will be set up where visitors can complete the word HOPE by placing a gerbera sticker, which has the word "hope" in the language of flowers, on the board during the exhibition period. The event will also be held in conjunction with the Osaka Umeda International Convention Center.

In conjunction with the event, poster advertisements will be placed mainly at JR Osaka Station and Hankyu Umeda Station in the Umeda area of Osaka.

Even with the development of medical care, there are still "unmet medical needs" such as lack of treatment methods, lack of effective drugs, and the burden of treatment, as well as "drug lag/loss," in which drugs approved overseas are not approved in Japan or are not being developed in Japan. The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) is pleased to present this exhibition. Through this exhibition, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) will contribute to the promotion of awareness and understanding of social issues in the pharmaceutical and medical fields.

Purpose of the event

In the society we live in, there are people who face illnesses every day, believing that one day they will be able to use the medicines they want or find a cure. In this exhibition, we will display photographs and messages from patients and their families, survivors of cancer and those involved in patient support activities, as well as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and others in various capacities, showing how they live with their illnesses and never lose hope. The exhibition will be held at the same time on the website of the Pharmaceutical Cooperative Association of Japan. At the same time, an introduction page for this photo exhibition is being opened on the website of the Pharmaceutical Cooperative Association of Japan.
We hope that many people who are not themselves affected by the disease will become aware of the challenges facing medicine and healthcare, and we hope to encourage a change from indifference to interest and from lack of understanding to understanding.
