Photo Exhibition: "Living with Disease, Living with Hope: Unseen Answers, Creating the Future," the second exhibition will be held in Osaka. Joint photo exhibition with four organizations, photographed by Harvey Yamaguchi
March 06, 2024
Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (Chairman: Hiroaki Ueno. JPMA), with the cooperation of four organizations: the Japanese Society of Clinical Oncology, the Japanese Cancer Association, the Japanese Association for Cancer Therapy, and CancerX, will hold an exhibition from Monday, March 25 to Sunday, March 31, 2024, to inform the public about social issues in the pharmaceutical and medical fields, The event will be held at the Umeda Tsutaya Showroom (Kita-ku, Osaka) from March 25 (Mon.) to 31 (Sun.), 2024, under the theme "Living with Disease. Living with Hope. Photography Exhibition: Living with Illness - Unseen Answers for the Future" (hereinafter referred to as "this exhibition") will be held at the Umeda Tsutaya Showroom (Kita-ku, Osaka City) from March 25 to 31, 2012.
This is the second photo exhibition following the one held in Harajuku, Tokyo in December 2023. With the cooperation of four organizations, this exhibition will display the images and thoughts of patients and their families, cancer survivors and supporters, medical professionals, and others who are facing the disease from various perspectives and challenging themselves without losing hope, in the form of portraits and messages. Portraits and messages will be on display.
On the first day of the exhibition, an opening reception will be held in the Tsutaya's shared lounge (Sky Area) with Mr. Harvey Yamaguchi, a photographer who has contributed to the exhibition, and Mr. Hiroaki Ueno, JPMA's president. In addition to the media, the event will be open to the general public on a first-come, first-served basis so that they can become more familiar with social issues in the pharmaceutical and medical fields. Tickets will be distributed to the first 20 people (tentative) in front of the Sky Area from 10:30 on the day of the event. Only one ticket per person will be distributed.
At the exhibition, visitors to the venue will have the opportunity to participate by placing a gerbera sticker, which means "hope" in Japanese, on a board to create the word "HOPE". We will also be developing a project with the hashtag "#Living with Hope and Living with Disease" to spread this initiative to as many people as possible.
In conjunction with the exhibition, poster advertisements will be placed mainly at JR Osaka Station and Hankyu Umeda Station in the Umeda area of Osaka.
Even today, with the development of medical care, there are still "unmet medical needs" such as lack of treatments, ineffective drugs, and the burden associated with treatment, as well as "drug lag/loss," in which drugs approved overseas are not approved in Japan or are not developed in Japan itself. The Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ) is pleased to announce the launch of this exhibition. Through this exhibition, JPMA will contribute to the promotion of awareness and understanding of social issues in the pharmaceutical and medical fields.
Purpose of the Meeting
In the society we live in, there are people who face their illnesses every day, believing that one day they will be able to use the medicine they want or find a cure. In this exhibition, patients, their families, cancer survivors, and those involved in patient support activities, as well as doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and others in various capacities, will present their images and thoughts in the form of photographs and messages, showing how they live with their illnesses while never losing hope. At the same time, the exhibition will also be displayed on the website of the Pharmaceutical Cooperative Association of Japan. At the same time, an introduction page for this photo exhibition is being opened on the JPMA website.
We hope that many people who are not themselves affected by the disease will become aware of the issues in medicine and healthcare, and we hope to encourage a change from indifference to interest, and from lack of understanding to understanding.
