On December 10, 2019, visiting members led by Mr. Wang Xiaoning, Deputy Director General of China's State Medical Security Administration (Pharmaceutical Pricing, Procurement and Purchasing), visited the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (PMA) and held high-level talks with PMA executives.

The State Medical Security Administration is a very important government agency for developing pharmaceutical business in China, in charge of "drug prices, bidding, bidding and reimbursement lists," etc., which was newly established as a result of administrative reorganization in 2018. However, thanks to the efforts of the MHLW, the high-level meeting was realized on the occasion of the visit to Japan by the State Medical Security Administration.

At the meeting, Mr. Tadaharu Goto, President of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ), explained the efforts of the PMAJ, etc. Mr. Xiaoning Wang introduced the current status and plans for talks, evaluation of the 4+7 centralized purchasing and the current status of nationwide expansion, mass procurement of quality generics, revision of reimbursement lists, and other issues.

It was agreed to continue to have opportunities for exchange, dialogue, and information exchange on common issues such as aging population, high drug prices, and financial resources that both countries face.
