The "Pharmaceutical Association of Japan Forum" is held once a year to deepen understanding of the pharmaceutical industry by bringing together representatives of various industries closely related to the pharmaceutical industry and representatives of member companies for a frank exchange of opinions. In 2024, the 23rd Pharmaceutical Cooperative Forum was held on November 28 at the Keidanren Kaikan Conference Hall (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo). This year, we asked Mr. Fumiaki Kubo, President of the National Defense Academy of Japan, to deliver a lecture.

The 2024 U.S. Presidential Election and the International Order/Japan-U.S. Relations

Mr. Kubo spoke on recent U.S. domestic political issues, the 2024 U.S. presidential election, the future international order, and Japan-U.S. relations.
Part 2: Roundtable Discussion
Following the opening remarks by Mr. Hiroaki Ueno, Chairman of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ), Mr. Hirofumi Niki, Vice Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, representing the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare, Mr. Toru Tsunoda, Vice President, representing the Japan Medical Association, Mr. Susumu Iwatsuki, Chairman, representing the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association, and Mr. Shinsuke Amano, President, National Federation of Cancer Patients Organizations, representing patient groups, gave guest remarks at the round-table meeting. Mr. Shinsuke Amano, President of the National Federation of Cancer Patients' Associations, also made remarks.
The banquet was opened with a toast by Mr. Yasushi Okada, Chairman of the Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers' Associations of Japan, followed by words of expectation and encouragement from many members of the Diet. The packed hall was filled to overflowing with the enthusiasm of the many participants, and the circle of discussion filled the room. After the closing speech by Asuka Miyabashira, Vice President of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ), the participants continued to enjoy chatting with each other, and the "23rd PMAJ Forum" was successfully concluded with a great success.
