This page provides an overview of the report on the results of the “19th Survey on Public Perceptions of Medicines and the Pharmaceutical Industry,” conducted in fiscal year 2025.
The purpose of this survey is to assess the public’s understanding and perception of prescription drugs and the pharmaceutical industry, and to use the findings as a basis for the JPMA’s public relations activities. The survey began in 1996 and has been conducted annually since 2014; this marks the 19th edition.
According to the results of this survey, the level of trust in the pharmaceutical industry stands at 86.7%, and 89.5% of respondents agreed that it is an indispensable industry for people’s daily lives.Depending on the survey item, differences in opinions and interests were observed across various demographic groups, such as age, health status, and experience with medical care. The industry will take these differences into account in its communications, strive to meet the expectations of all stakeholders, and focus on public relations activities that prioritize engagement while addressing diverse needs and interests.
