The Health Crisis of AMR
- What we can do to learn from the new coronavirus infection to counter the silent pandemic of drug resistance (AMR)

Drug resistance (AMR) is a problem in which antimicrobial agents become ineffective against infectious diseases. It is said that AMR will become a bigger problem than cancer by 2050 if countermeasures are not taken at this time. It is necessary to take immediate countermeasures. To commemorate the 72nd WHO Western Pacific Regional Commission Meeting to be held in Himeji in October, we will hold a symposium to share the current situation of AMR, which is still under-recognized in Japan and abroad, among people involved in infectious diseases in industry, academia, and the public sector, and to discuss future measures in Japan.
