IFPMA's Five Priorities for Preparing for and Responding to Future Pandemics
IFPMA has announced five important priorities for future pandemic preparedness and response that were identified by the COVID-19 pandemic. The following five priorities are critical to developing and deploying future pandemic preparedness more rapidly and effectively, and to achieving global health equity from the earliest stages of a pandemic.
-
Maintaining a vibrant innovation ecosystem based on intellectual property and ensuring rapid, reliable, and unfettered access to pathogens and their genetic information
-
To build equitable access to vaccines and therapeutics early in the pandemic response and shape a new social contract
-
Developing a sustainable manufacturing capacity globally in peacetime that can be scaled up to provide large supplies of therapeutics and vaccines in the event of future pandemics
-
Support the development of a trade environment that contributes to global health security through open borders and the elimination of trade restrictions.
-
Support ongoing efforts to strengthen national preparedness to anticipate and respond to future pandemics.
