Industry Policy Committee Accumulation of domestic and international research on disease prevention necessary for extending healthy life expectancy ～Map of previous studies by disease category/stage of prevention

Objective

  • The number of previous studies is counted along the two axes of [disease x 0-tertiary prevention], and the extent of previous studies is mapped for each disease and function.
  • The keywords used to create this mapping will also be made public, in the hope that they will assist in the search for literature/themes in areas outside of their expertise.

Method

1. selection of organizing axes and search keywords

  1. We surveyed patient surveys (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), websites of academic societies, and review articles to identify the elements that make up the two axes (disease x 0-tertiary prevention). For diseases in particular, we utilized the MeSH database of PubMed to stratify each disease and considered which stratum should be used as the keywords.
    (For example, we organized whether to divide by "heart disease" OR "myocardial infarction" OR "angina pectoris")
  2. (1) We examined which keywords should be adopted for each using PubMed.
  3. For the division into 0- to tertiary prevention, we searched the MeSH database for the elements extracted in (1) to see if there were any keywords missing.

2. creation of a mapping diagram

  1. We searched PubMed for the number of previous studies in the past 10 years using the keywords in each quadrant of the 2 axes (disease x 0 to tertiary prevention) as search formulas.
  2. A mapping chart was created based on the number of searches.
    *In addition, by multiplying the search formula by keywords related to therapeutic drugs, etc., it is possible to determine the number of papers related to therapeutic drugs, etc.
    (e.g., by multiplying the search formula by the therapeutic agents for breast cancer)
    　Papers related to therapeutic agents for breast cancer among cancers of the chest: 27382 papers
    　Breakdown: 0th prevention: 5211 papers
    　Primary prevention: 793 papers
    　Secondary prevention: 17098 papers
    　Tertiary prevention: 4280 papers
