Astellas Pharma Inc. Astellas believes that social contribution activities are an important corporate activity as well as the business activity of manufacturing drugs, and we are conducting patient association support (Starlight Partners) activities to provide support to patients and their families. As part of our Starlight Partner activities, we support the human resource development of patient groups* in order to support their independence and sustainable development.
In addition to providing three training programs (Peer Support Training, Leadership Training Program, and Patient Expert Program), we also provide grants for projects undertaken by patient groups and free supplies of stationery for events.

Kyowa Kirin Co. Sponsorship of RDD Japan*.
We continue our sponsorship of RDD Japan, which aims to raise awareness of intractable/rare diseases not only among medical professionals but also among a wider audience.
*Rare Disease Day (RDD) is an activity started in Sweden in 2008 to improve the quality of life of patients with rare/intractable diseases through better diagnosis and treatment. In support of the purpose of RDD in Japan, RDD Japan events have been held on the last day of February since 2010.

Takeda Pharmaceutical Company Limited Charity Walk
Chugai regularly holds "Charity Walks" in which employees can participate at any time and any place as a charity event that leads to support by walking. Takeda makes a donation according to the total number of steps taken by participants (voluntary) during the event. So far, the event has been held for Gaucher disease, primary immunodeficiency syndrome, and hemophilia, and donations have been made to organizations related to those intractable and rare diseases.
Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Corporation In addition to its business activities, the Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Group is engaged in a variety of medical and welfare-related initiatives with the aim of realizing vibrant lives for people, including patients and their families.
One example is the "Mitsubishi Tanabe Pharma Hand in Hand Partner Program," which was established in 2012 to support activities to improve the quality of life of patients with intractable diseases, such as medical treatment, schooling, and employment, by providing grants to patient groups and their support organizations.

  • In 2023, we held a top-level discussion between two patient groups and three pharmaceutical companies, with the managing director of JPA also speaking at the event.   • We are creating a forum for interested parties to listen to lectures by members of patient groups and think about the realization of patient-centered medicine.
