Drug Evaluation Committee Examination of Management Practices in Medical Institutions

Clinical Evaluation Subcommittee

April 2014

The Clinical Evaluation Committee's 2013 Special Project 2 examined the application of management, one of the business methods, to clinical trial operations at medical institutions.
Organizations exist to contribute to society, and the proper functioning of management there can lead to great results. Medical institutions are one type of organization, and submitting clinical trial data to companies through clinical trial operations is one of the ways they contribute to society by creating new drugs. More results (a large number of high-quality clinical trial data) leads to more contributions to society, and management can be positioned as a mechanism to encourage the organization (medical institution) to achieve more results.
This book is designed to be a practical guide for medical institutions aiming to improve their clinical trial implementation capabilities, and many of the suggestions in the book are things that can be implemented with little effort. We hope that this publication will help medical institutions to make new efforts to improve the efficiency of clinical trials.
