Drug Evaluation Committee Consideration - Survey to understand the needs of healthcare professionals regarding drug safety information (physicians and pharmacists) Conducted May 2023
Pharmacovigilance Subcommittee
April 2026
Under the VISION of "contributing to the safety and security of patients by establishing an ideal safety information provision system from the viewpoints of patients and healthcare professionals and delivering necessary information," we are working to promote risk communication using DX.
Although the media for providing information from pharmaceutical companies to healthcare providers have been changing along with changes in the environment, the actual situation regarding safety information has not been sufficiently clear.
Therefore, in May 2023, we conducted a questionnaire survey of healthcare professionals and published a preliminary report on the current status and issues.
Based on the results of the survey, we examined in detail from two perspectives: (1) the relationship between information sources and the criteria that healthcare professionals value when obtaining safety information, and (2) expectations of pharmaceutical company websites based on the "information-seeking behavior" of physicians and pharmacists. This study analyzes the differences in information source selection by time of day and type of job, and presents issues and improvement measures to ensure the delivery of necessary information in the medical field. By publishing the results, we aim to promote the optimization of information provision throughout the industry and contribute to the appropriate use of medicines and improvement of patient safety.
The overall results of the survey are presented in the [Preliminary Report] and should be used in conjunction with this discussion.
