Drug Evaluation Committee Introduction of Application Examples of Open Source Software

According to the report on the survey regarding the use of open-source software (OSS) conducted by Task Force 5 of the Data Science Subcommittee of the Drug Evaluation Committee of the Japan Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (FY2022),in response to the question, “Please tell us what you expect from JPMA’s task force regarding the use of open-source software such as R and Python in the future,” the introduction of OSS use cases received the second-highest number of responses, following its use in regulatory submissions.
Therefore, this Task Force collected case studies of Python and R usage from the companies where Task Force members are employed and compiled them—along with explanations of the program logic and execution environments used to implement these cases—into a document titled “Case Studies on the Utilization of Open Source Software.”
We hope this document will help promote the utilization of open source software.
