Abstract


 Digitalization in the medical and healthcare fields has made remarkable progress in recent years, and there is a growing movement to use digital solutions for a wide range of applications, including daily health management, diagnosis, and treatment. In addition, the utilization of a wide variety of health and medical data obtained through medical institutions and digital solutions is changing the way medicine and healthcare is provided from a traditional "treatment-centered" approach to "the entire life course from prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis," and from "uniform interventions" to "individualized and stratified interventions. In addition, innovations in medical technology, including pharmaceuticals, are also being developed. In addition, the development of medical technology, including pharmaceuticals, is expected to lead to innovation, optimal policy making, and the optimal allocation of medical resources.

 In the midst of these trends, how should the pharmaceutical industry deal with new technologies, utilize data, collaborate with other stakeholders, and contribute to society? This paradigm shift in medicine and healthcare will have a major impact on the pharmaceutical industry, which has been providing value through the creation of pharmaceuticals, and will require various reforms, such as entering into digital solutions through collaboration with different industries and utilizing healthcare data to create innovative innovations such as drug discovery. The pharmaceutical industry is facing the need for a variety of reforms.

 This paper proposes measures that should be taken by relevant stakeholders from the viewpoints of digital medicine development and utilization of healthcare data in order to realize better healthcare and medical care in Japan, and also provides a direction for the pharmaceutical industry in the era of medical and healthcare reform.
