In 2003, the "Three-Year Plan for Revitalization of Clinical Trials in Japan" was formulated to improve the hollowing out of clinical trials in Japan. Since that time, it has been pointed out that Japanese physicians are busier than their counterparts in the U.S. and cannot afford to conduct clinical trials, and that it is important to improve incentives for physicians. The plan also noted the importance of improving incentives for physicians.

Following the "New Five-Year Plan for Clinical Trials Revitalization" formulated in 2007, the "Five-Year Plan for Clinical Research and Clinical Trials Revitalization 2012" is currently underway. In order to respond to these issues, we would like to consider the following questions.

In order to answer these questions, we conducted a questionnaire survey of clinical trial activities among physicians in South Korea, one of the countries in Asia that are active in clinical trials, and in the United States, a country with advanced clinical trials, and compared the current situation of physicians in Japan and overseas. We would like to clarify the current situation of Japanese physicians in the current clinical trial environment.
