Outline of the Institute

The Pharmaceutical Industry Policy Institute (PIPI) is a research institute that analyzes and examines the environment surrounding the pharmaceutical industry and medium- to long-term issues facing the industry, and makes recommendations.

Purpose of Research Activities

The purpose of the institute is to contribute to the development of a conducive environment for the creation of innovative and highly useful new drugs and to the sound growth of the pharmaceutical industry
through surveys, analysis and research on the pharmaceutical industry, and by making recommendations on the results of such research.

Outline of Research and Studies

  1. Research on the future vision of the pharmaceutical industry and strategies to realize the vision
  2. Research on industrial organization, industrial structure, industrial policy, etc. related to the pharmaceutical industry
  3. Research on issues related to the creation of innovative new drugs and the internal and external environment
  4. Research on issues and systems related to the utilization of health and medical data
  5. Research on pharmaceutical affairs and drug pricing systems related to the value and evaluation of pharmaceutical products
  6. Support for the policy advocacy activities of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PMAJ)
  7. Construction of databases related to industrial policy
