Held the 31st JPMA Policy Seminar.

The JPMA held the 31st JPMA Policy Seminar on March 11, 2019, at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) under the theme "What can we do with pharmaceutical innovation: Contributions and expectations of new drugs and future challenges. In Japan, the declining birthrate, aging population, and shrinking population are rapidly changing the structure of diseases, while the "100-year life period" has been proposed, and new wisdom is required to maintain the social security system. The goal is to create an "angel cycle" in which new drug innovation is the starting point for extending healthy life expectancy, increasing the working population and reducing social security costs and burdens, and the financial resources generated as a result of improved tax revenues are invested in new drug innovation. Representatives from each stakeholder group discussed what roles industry, academia, and government should play to achieve this goal.
