JPMA Position Statements

JPMA is committed to contributing to the better health of patients worldwide through the promotion of drug discovery, research and development. In support of such research and to ensure that the resulting medicines safely reach the patients that need them, the JPMA has shared statements in the following areas:

Delivering equitable access in pandemics: Biopharmaceutical industry commitments:

In response to the threat of future global pandemics, the Japanese Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association(JPMA), in collaboration with the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) and six other organizations, developed a set of commitments for equitable access to essential medical countermeasures in future pandemics.

Proposals from the Pharmaceutical Industry for the G7 Hiroshima Summit Health Agenda:

The Japanese Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association (JPMA) and the International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers and Associations (IFPMA) jointly submitted the "Proposals from the Pharmaceutical Industry for the G7 Hiroshima Summit Health Agenda" to the Prime Minister, Minister of Health, Labor and Welfare, Minister of Finance, and Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Joint IFPMA-JPMA-PhRMA Letter for G20 Japan-Saudi transition:

JPMA submitted "Joint IFPMA-JPMA-PhRMA Letter for G20 Japan-Saudi transition" to both of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Ministers of Health.

Recommendations from Pharmaceutical Industry for G20 Health Ministers Meeting:

JPMA submitted "Recommendations from Pharmaceutical Industry for G20 Health Ministers Meeting" to the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare.

Recommendations from the pharmaceutical industry for the G20 Osaka Summit Health Agenda:

JPMA submitted "Recommendations from the pharmaceutical industry for the G20 Osaka Summit Health Agenda" to the Prime Minister of Japan, the Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Minister of Finance and the Minister for Foreign Affairs. JPMA's Activities for Access to Medicines in Developing Countries:

The United Nations High-Level Panel on Access to Medicines issued a report on September 14, 2016. JPMA recognizes that there are multi-layered challenges in addressing global access to medicines. It requires a solution with a holistic approach.
