Charter of Corporate Behavior of the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan Revised October 18, 2018, Effective April 1, 2019

The mission of pharmaceutical companies is to contribute to the improvement of the welfare and healthcare of people around the world through the continuous development and stable supply of superior pharmaceutical products, thereby contributing to the realization of healthy and high quality of life. To achieve this mission, the pharmaceutical industry is required to pursue the ever-advancing life sciences with sincerity and relentless pursuit of excellence, and to conduct its business with the highest ethical standards and transparency.
In 1997, the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Japan (PAPJ) established the "PAPJ Charter of Corporate Behavior" (hereinafter referred to as the "Charter") to help member companies fulfill their mission as pharmaceutical companies. In addition to fulfilling the mission of a pharmaceutical company, the Charter has been revised to include the following three pillars: (1) to contribute to the sustainable development of society by conducting business activities in consideration of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) issues, and (2) to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
